Literature is an expression of life through language form. The author is free to use his words through his imagination in his work, in offering the readers the kinds of the description of life that frequently occurs in the human life. Literature is an art form that generally means an imaginative writing from which the fictional word is created.  literature is simply another way we can experience the world around us through our imagination. The importance of reading literary works is to apply the previous experience to the reading in some ordered ways that will permit the reader to think, to feel, and thereby to get new insight and new experience.

Previously, this novel has already been studied by another researcher. She investigated about the Huckleberry’s struggles which involved two kinds of struggles namely: physical and mental. Huckleberry’s physical struggles include struggles for freeing himself from his cruel father; struggles for survival in the Jackson island. On the other hand, Huckleberry’s mental struggles involves struggling to adapt himself to new rules in widow Douglas house such as the way of eating, dressing and learning.
